Figure 2. Immunofluorescence detection of human RNase 8 expressed in U2OS cells by anti-RNase 8 polyclonal antibody. Anti-RNase 8 antibody concentration in IF experiment was 1 µg/ml. Goat ant-rabbit AlexaFluor488 was used as secondary antibody. For nuclear staining DAPI was used. ArrayScan VTI platform (Thermo Scientific) was used for image acquisition (10x objective). Background
The RNase 8 gene is linked to seven other RNase A superfamily genes on chromosome 14. It is expressed prominently in the placenta, but is not detected in any other tissues examined. The ribonucleolytic activity of recombinant human RNase 8 is among the lowest of members of this superfamily and it exhibits neither antiviral nor antibacterial activities characteristic of some other RNase A ribonucleases (reviewed from Zhang et al. 2002, NAR, 30 (5) 1169-1175).
