Icosagen CRDMO Receives Its Fourth French Research Tax Credit (CIR) Accreditation, Valid Through 2030

CIR

Icosagen Cell Factory has received its fourth accreditation under the French Research Tax Credit — Crédit d’Impôt Recherche, or CIR. For the first time, the accreditation has been granted for five years, covering 2026–2030.

The official decision recognises Icosagen Cell Factory as a private research organisation capable of conducting research and development activities on behalf of client companies. The new five-year accreditation follows three previous accreditation periods of three years each and marks another step in Icosagen’s long-standing cooperation with the French biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.

What the CIR accreditation means for French clients

For qualifying R&D activities, French biotech and biopharma companies may include eligible work outsourced to Icosagen in their CIR declarations, subject to the applicable requirements and the eligibility of the individual project.

The accreditation provides French companies with access to an experienced external R&D partner for therapeutic antibody, recombinant protein, cell line development, and CMC programmes. It confirms Icosagen’s capacity to perform R&D activities on behalf of clients but does not automatically establish the CIR eligibility of every individual project.

Continuing our work with French biotech and biopharma companies

Icosagen has worked with French biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies for many years, supporting programmes across different stages of biologics development — from early discovery and rapid research material generation to stable cell line development, CMC activities, and clinical manufacturing.

We are grateful for the trust our French clients and partners have placed in us and look forward to continuing these collaborations throughout the new accreditation period and beyond.

Integrated CRO and CDMO support at one site

Icosagen is an independent, family-owned CRDMO bringing discovery CRO and development and manufacturing CDMO capabilities together within one organisation and at one site.

We support therapeutic antibody and protein programmes across the development pathway, including:

Our integrated structure is particularly valuable when programmes move from early research into stable cell line development, CMC, and clinical manufacturing.

Knowledge generated during discovery, molecule characterisation, and early production can flow directly into cell line development, analytical strategy, process design, scale-up, and manufacturing. This continuity helps identify molecule-specific risks earlier and reduces repeated knowledge transfer between separate providers.

The result is fewer handoffs, greater continuity, and a development strategy designed around the molecule and its intended function rather than the limitations of a standard platform.

Important clarification for French clients

Icosagen’s CIR accreditation confirms our ability to carry out research and development activities on behalf of client companies.

The accreditation does not, by itself, confirm that every individual project is eligible for the French Research Tax Credit. Formal confirmation of a project’s scientific and technical eligibility can only be obtained through an advance ruling under Articles L 80 B 3° or L 80 B 3° bis of the French Tax Procedures Code.

To support clients in preparing their CIR declarations, the eligible R&D activities entrusted to Icosagen should be clearly and precisely identified in the relevant invoices and supporting documentation.

Looking ahead

Receiving our fourth CIR accreditation — and our first covering a full five-year period — is an important milestone for Icosagen and our work with the French biotechnology community.

Merci to our French clients and partners for your continued trust. We look forward to supporting many more therapeutic antibody and protein programmes in the years ahead.
