Senior scientist - Immuno-Oncology


Icosagen Cell Factory OÜ Research & Development Department is seeking an experienced Senior scientist - Immuno-Oncology

Position summary:

The R&D group is seeking a highly motivated experienced Senior Scientist to design and perform cell-based immunological assays to advance the development of immunotherapies against cancer. The candidate is expected to have 3 years of relevant postgraduate academic or industry experience. A strong background in cellular and molecular immunology, flow cytometry and primary immune cell culture is required. The candidate will be responsible for independent design and implementation of hypothesis-based research, performing laboratory work. The candidate is expected to support internal and external collaborative research projects.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Work within a matrix organization to develop antibody and/or cell-based therapeutic approaches against cancer indications.
  • Provide scientific leadership and project management expertise but also contribute to the advancement of internal or external collaborative projects. Create and track personal and team objectives.
  • Provide insights into the mechanisms of action of immunotherapies and disease
  • Design and implement short- and long-term experimental project plans, interpret
    experimental data and define safety, efficacy, mechanisms of action and developability profile via DNA, RNA, protein and function based ex vivo and in vitro analysis methods.
  • Establish novel state-of-the-art techniques and assays for functional analysis of
    immunotherapy candidates ex vivo/in vitro.
  • Document all research activities, develop SOPs, and summarize data in progress
    reports. Present progress to the team and the management.

Required qualifications:

  • The candidate is expected to have a PhD or similar experience in the field of immunology, oncology, translational research, or a related field.
  • The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant hands-on wet lab research experience and a strong track record including publications and/or evidence of research output.
  • Advanced multi-color flow cytometry skills for primary immune cell phenotyping and functional analysis are required.
  • A thorough skillset in a wide range of state of-the-art molecular and cell biology
    techniques, including primary immune cell isolation and culture, ex vivo and in vitro cell based assays, biochemical DNA, RNA and protein-based assays.
  • Basic understanding of cancer biology and treatment, and novel immunotherapies.
  • Proactive, constructive, well-organized and able to think critically and solve problems independently.
  • Be able to communicate research effectively in written and oral Estonian and/or English.
